Shiva Pancaakshari Mantra, Om namah Shivaya, is very very potent mantra. To me, it is like pure Love.
Lets take a look what Shastriji, a direct disciple of Sri Babaji has to say about this mantra:
"It is a 'mahamantra,' great mantra, a shortened and more powerful version of the mantra central to all four Vedas. It is called a beej mantra, a 'seed' mantra. The smaller and more concentrated an object, the more powerful it is. A seed contains within it all necessary power to create a mighty forest tree, and so, by comparison, it is much more powerful than the tree.
So it is with 'Om Namaha Shivaya' it is the beej, seed, of the longer version, and thus is a very, very potent mantra."
Gertraud Reichel, direct disciple of our Gurudev spent years in His presence. She wrote the book "Babaji, Gateway to the light".
Her experience and promise of Immortal Guru:
"... In the garden by the kirtan hall Babaji told me that He could always be reached through the mantra Om namah Shivaya. He walked closer to the edge and gazed out over the valley and called out my name. As I approached He crossed His hands over His chest:
"Give me your hand"
Trustingly I put my hand into His. In His presence it was all very well; I felt safe and couldn't go wrong, but how would it be when I was far away form Him?
"Will You still be accessible when I am in Germany?", I asked.
He kept staring ahead of Him. At last He turned His head and nodded and said emphatically:
"Yes, in your heart! Through the mantra Om namah Shivaya!"
And to drive it right home He thumped my chest with His right fist three times, uttering:
"Bum, bum, bum!"
He showed me His face; He was dead serious and full of love. I had the impression that now He was fixed in my heart forever.
"You understand?", He added.
I did..."
But whatever can be said in prise of Shiva Pancaakshari Mantra, Hare Krsna Mahamantra, Gaura mantra and especially Sri Gopala Mantra are, in my experiences, far beyond it.
Lord Shiva is but a manifestation of Sri Krsna and both Hare Krsna Mahamantra and Gopala Mantra are His names, Holy names of Sri Krsna.
It is Sri Krsna that is the most supreme and the only Source, Owner and Enjoyer of all that be, not Shiva.
Sri Babaji Himself has (indirectly) asserted that Truth:
"...Vilma asked Sri Babaji if He had meditated there as Lord Shiva Himself and her sister asked: "Is Shiv adi ( ADI - the beginning of everything, Adi Purusha, the origin of everything)?"
Sri Babaji answered: "No, Shiva is anadi (ANADI - without beginning)." He added that He might look young, but you can not imagine how old He really is..."
