The decision alone to follow the path of light is not sufficient; it takes conscious, single-minded work on oneself to strengthen positive forces. During a gathering at the temple-side one time, Sri Babaji said:
"None of you has a pure heart. You are merely playing out dramas."
Those words made me protest: "We know that. That's why we are here. Please help us to become pure."
Babaji then looked into my eyes as I had these thoughts and after the gathering had dispersed, called me to His side. I moved up very close to Him, so close, that my despair about the human condition, stuck in a physical body and confounded in illusion, erupted and I burst into tears. Imploringly I lay my head on His arm. Babaji consoled me and lovingly patter my head several times, saying: "Dong, dong." He brushed His sleeve over my face to dry my tears. I calmed down.
"Do you want to say anything?", He said.
"No", I replied. "You already know what's in my heart." He nodded and gave me some sugarcane to sip from His cup.
