Is Sri Babaji really Shiva? (part 1)

I get from time to time emails from visitors of our Portal with one and only question:
is Sri Babaji really Shiva?

While answering such question seems simple, it is really much more complicated. Lets take a closer look at this important topic.

Once Sri Babaji was asked: "How is it possible that Lord of Destruction (in Vedic literature,Shiva is said to hold a post of the one God that brings devastation and destruction to creation), Lord Siva shines forth so much love as You do?

I don't know what Sri Babaji answered (probably nothing, I presume), but what I do know is that He really is Unconditional Love personified and Humility incarnate.

And while Love and Destruction seem to have no apparent connection, it IS really Love that makes any change possible. Shiva, as one of three major demigods in Hinduism, is usually depicted as angry God, the one who brings sorrow etc...

Well, with due respect to everyone that feels that way about Shiva, this conception is completely misguiding. Change is a natural part of life, everything that is born here in material universe must inevitably come to pass. You, me, our friends, parents, our habits, everything and everyone will someday cease to be (or rather, our current material existence will diminish). So, impermanence is an important fact of life. And yes, Shiva, Sri Babaji, is the one that brings the huge changes in the world about. And in our very own lives as well.

And the only suffering and feelings of destruction and devastation belong to those that cling to much. The more one tries to hold on to impermanent thoughts, deeds, material objects, other persons, the more one suffers.

As soon as one opens up and starts to trust in the Reality that is beyond material one, as soon as one lets go of old forms, patterns and attachments, the better.

Spiritual progress does not need to be full of suffering. Quite the opposite! With trust in Gurudev and God (if you have one or if you believe in God), progress becomes as smooth as placid lake.

So, what has this got to do with real identity of Sri Babaji?

What I usually answer to questions about His being Lord Shiva is this:
you will have to find out it for yourself.

While I realize that a lot of "shivas" exist today in India and everyone claims to be one, it is Sri Babaji that stands out of that bogus self-proclaimed gurus in most unique way:
without any action of forceful indoctrination from His end, certain personal disciples of His has actually seen and directly experience Him as Lord Shiva, through samadhi, non-dual, absolute perception.

And these individuals were not some new-age fluffy touchy-feely spiritual wannabes, they were highly educated men, with titles of Acharyas (equivalent to Master's or Ph.D. in the west). All of them were deeply realized persons, with thousands of devotees (Mahendra Baba, Paramhansa Yogananda, Sri Sitaram Das, Lahiri Mahasaya, just to name the most prominent ones).

Even more, some most advanced disciples have had the most rare blessings of having darshan of His real form as Sadashiva and Sri Krsna (you might want to read, if you havent already, these experiences here: http://www.sribabaji.org/portal/article.php?story=lama_baba )

So, who is Sri Babaji? What is His real identity?
Why is He immortal? IS He really immortal?

Well, while these topics are very important, you, dear visitors, will still have to find answers for yourselves. And not by reading or by intellectual effort, but by sincere sadhana and heartfelt prayers for His mercy.

And He is closer to us that we can ever imagine.

Sri Babaji says:

"I am nobody and nothing. This body has no meaning. I am only a mirror in which you can perceive yourselves. I am like fire. Don't stay too far away
or you will not feel the warmth. But don't come too close either for you will get burnt."

"Sitting here at Haidakhan, Mahaprabhuji has control over every particle of the Creation by the power of His mere wish, by His every thought. Mahaprabhuji has control over the elements, the spiritual world - to say nothing of the world of men. He is the Creator, Sustainer and Destroyer of the world.
Not a single blade of grass can grow but that He wills it..."

And there is only one Mahaprabhu, so how is it possible that Sri Babaji is saying these words?

Bhole Baba ki JAI!
Hari bol
